Why Art

People of all backgrounds can relate to art, whether from a rich history or a simple cartoon. To appreciate art, makes the world a better place. Art is a powerful tool for social interaction. It is a way to express yourself without saying anything. Moreover, it brings communities closer together and forms a stronger sense of community. The power of art is undeniable. When a community is bustling with creativity and has a vibrant art scene filled with attractions, tourists will come from all over to see it.

Paint The Town Redding is an initiative that facilitates public art projects in our city. We act as a bridge between those who want murals, those who create them, and those who fund them.

When the artist is alive in any person, whatever their kind of work, they may become inventive, searching, daring, self-expressive creatures. They disturb, upset, enlighten, and open ways for a better understanding. Where those who are not artists are trying to close the book, the artist opens it and shows there are still more pages possible!

How the whole community can participate?

Artist paint murals on several blank walls in the downtown area. Artists will be paid with sponsorship and donated dollars. Artists are responsible for supplying their own personal insurance, paint, tools, and materials. The public is invited to come by and watch the artists creating.

The nature of street art is temporary and ever changing. The property owners agree to leave the murals up for 5 years, but some may be replaced before that, and others may stay up for longer. None of these pieces of art are permanent.

We hope to empower local businesses and organizations to have related events that take place at a “block party” at the end of the week. This will also help local businesses and organizations take advantage of the increase in visitors and capitalize on the Festival.

We will invite musicians and performers, food vendors, and demonstrating artists to have assigned spaces at the block party. Demonstrating artists must be actively creating throughout the event, not just selling their wares.
